Spidex Software has announced that Sheffield Forgemasters has selected EPRAIS and Mainsaver CMMS to support best-practice health & safety in maintenance at its famous South Yorkshire manufacturing plant.
Sheffield Forgemasters is in its third century of trading and is almost certainly the world’s most longstanding steel business. Ongoing investment in state-of-the-art plant has positioned the company at the forefront of technology for large-scale castings and forgings in heavy engineering operations across the entire globe.
The evaluation exercise eventually won by Spidex’s EPRAIS and Mainsaver systems was led by Forgemasters’ Group Engineering Director Steve Marshall. He had two principal objectives: (i) replacing a group of incumbent legacy systems with a unified maintenance, health & safety solution rolled out across all six operational sites and (ii) using the selected systems to help manage and support a new Preventative Maintenance strategy for 2016.
After researching the leading offerings in the market, Mr Marshall invited in a number of suppliers to demonstrate the capabilities of their respective solutions against a rigorous functionality specification. A detailed comparison exercise followed, after which EPRAIS and Mainsaver were declared the preferred solutions.
The EPRAIS modules to have been selected are Permit-to-Work, Adverse Event Reporting and Accident Investigation.
Spidex Managing Director Jonathan Starling commented: “We are delighted to working with Sheffield Forgemasters, one of the UK’s most famous manufacturers. Forgemasters has an incredible history and for Spidex, playing a part in what will be a very exciting future, is a great privilege.”
