Spidex has announced that Huhtamaki Foodservice Delta has selected its EPRAIS health & safety management software for the company’s manufacturing facility in Belfast.
The Delta factory manufactures a huge range of printed cardboard packaging for a customer base that include household-name consumer brands, food outlets and retailers.
The decision to appoint a new provider followed an acceptance that the existing systems used by the site’s engineers – originally procured in the 1980s – no longer had the features or flexibility required to support a best-practice maintenance and health & safety regime.
With that in mind, research was undertaken, trial versions were assessed, and live software demonstrations arranged. At the end of a detailed evaluation, the most suitable offering was deemed to be that from Spidex.
Maintenance Manager Paul Kirk was on the decision-making team and explains: “A particular factor in Spidex’s favour was their EPRAIS Permit-to-Work software, which operates in conjunction with their Mainsaver CMMS. Their offering was the best fit for our requirements – all functions that we required, but with an extremely user-friendly front end for day-to-day operation.”
The implementation of Mainsaver CMMS and EPRAIS is now under way. According to Paul Kirk, the user training, workflow development and asset data mapping sessions already completed were “bespoke to our requirements, detailed and very informative. “
The project is now expected to support several longer-term objectives at Huhtamaki FS Delta. In maintenance, they are aiming for greater visibility of current and outstanding maintenance activity and more efficient utilisation of engineer hours. On the process side, the principal objectives are a reduction in plant downtime and to rationalise the annual spend on inventory. The addition of the EPRAIS Permit module is expected to contribute to a safer working environment.
Spidex Managing Director Jonathan Starling said “We are delighted to be working with such a major manufacturer on this important project. We warmly welcome Huhtamaki Foodservice Delta as a customer and look forward to a long and happy partnership.”
